The reason why the keto diet is so popular these days is because the initial weight loss you experience is no joke. On the first few days of sticking to the diet most of the water weight you have gets flushed out of the body. So with losing so much weight at the start of you may feel a little disappointed when you don’t lose as much weight as before. Well, you shouldn’t be. While there are many reasons as to why you may be experiencing keto plateau, it shouldn’t discourage you from pushing through with the diet. - Track your progress – is extremely important when you’re on the keto diet. Keeping count of your calories, protein and fat intake is key to making sure you stay on ketosis so you can get higher chances for weight loss. Monitoring ketone levels is also something you should not be lazy with as it tells you how safe or how much in trouble you are in terms of your ketone levels and ketone production.
- Catch some z’s – is also important to ensure you’re losing enough weight. Not getting enough sleep messes up your circadian rhythm and in turn messes up your health not to mention the fact that it increases cravings which is a no-no.
- Chill – stress levels can also affect the way your body performs particularly when it’s trying to lose weight since high stress levels increases your cortisol levels which in turn increases fat storage making it even harder to lose weight. So taking it easy and relaxing is vital if you want to get out of the keto plateau.
- Other health issues – if worse comes to worse and you’ve tried everything you can think of and it still doesn’t work, try speaking to your doctor about it. Chances are it may have something to do with other health issues that are affecting your body.
When it comes to weight loss while on the keto diet, having enough patience and paying close attention to your body are a surefire way to get you out of the dreaded keto weight loss plateau.
